Red Hat Kernel 2.4.18-26.8.0

Installed from up2date a few days ago. Has anyone else noticed this particular kernels instability?

It was a mess right from the start for me. First the startup screens were illegible, stair-stepping every line. Then it actually shut-off my tape drive. Couldn't even eject the tape. Then is shutdown my smb services.

That is everything this particular server does, so it made it 100% useless.

I still had the older kernel installed so it didn't really cause a problem, but my "uptime" took a hit.
