Cool Red Hat 9 to Enterprise Linux


Can I up grade from Red Hat Linux 9 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux without loosing all my data or do I have to do a complete reformat and install the enterprise linux?

Do you have your /home on a separate partition, or is it all one partition.

If /home is on its own partition, then you can just install the new version over the old one. Just make RHEL use the same partition for /home and do not format it. I suggest that you backup important data first.

If /home is not on a separate partition, then I think you are better off backing up your data and then installing RHEL. Create a partition for /home, and then start again from scratch.
