Red Hat 7.1 + win 98 [hard disk question]

I presentyl have 4 gb of hard disk, with RH 7.1 installed.

Now, I'm buying 20 gb more, and I'd like to divide that equally between RH 7.1, and win 98 [which I'll install later].

How do I go about it ? Should I first create a partition on the new gb and format one into ntfs and the other into fat32 ???

I would appreciate any help.

Best Regards,
A.A.

generally, its a good idea to install win98 first, then linux. the installation for windows always attempts to take up the whole hard drive, but, if you can partition the hd up first, and format part as fat32, you might be able to put windows on that without affecting the linux partitions.

Attempted; failed

Well,

I bought 20 GB hard disk, and REPLACED the orignal 4 GB with it. I used Win98 Start up Disk to create 1 primary partition, and 1 extended partition of equal sizes:

Now, the problem is that I 'm bad at hardware stuff; I dont know how to format those FAT disks from command-line.

Secondly, I booted the RH7.1 install from the CD, and, choosing custom installation, ran Disk DRUID.

I created the following (sizes stated roughly):

/boot - 32 mb
<not set> 5 gb [dos partion]
/usr 6 gb
/home 6 gb
/ 1.2 gb
/var 400 mb
<swap> 256 [swap partition]

The PROBLEM is that the installation program sometimes goes as far as the package selection screens, then gets stuck; or goes as far as the Language selection screen and gets stuck.

The last time I installed RH7.1 with win 2k, I had no linux problems [that time I choose server intstallation; and lost all win 2k: this time, I want rh7.1 and win98 together]

Why is linux installation getting stuck (it gave a kernel error last time) ?

Hope somebedy can help me,
Regards,
Ahsan A.
