recovering deleted files; cd bake oven

I just downloaded CD Bake Oven for KDE, and while making a data CD, I tried to remove some files from the CD list. However, it deleted the _actual files_ rather than the file listings out of the burn list, and I'm absolutely furious. I need those files back, is there a way to recover deleted files? I'm not a n00b, but I've never had to do this before.

Damn, I hate KDE.

Someone help, please.

1. Don't write anything else to the filesystem where your missing files are. Better yet, unmount it.

2. What filesystem are you using? See u2undel if you are using ext2. In other cases it is somewhat more complicated.

I'm using ext3. I think I'll try the program anyway, though. It's worth a shot.

I might just have to give it up because I'm pretty sure some other stuff overwrote the files already. Oh well.

I would like to know the other solution if possible...how much more complicated is it?

the thread was a joke, but a lot of good recovery info came out

good luck

*edit: btw, ext2 tools work perfectly with ext3 (since they are essentially the same; ext3 just has journal)

Well, I have been quite succesful on recovering the valuable data after disk corruption (caused by a bug in promise driver when using HD > 137GB) by using grep and Linux disk editor it had some issues with partitions > 4GB and with badly corrupted data (fixed in debian/sarge and probably on newest knoppix), but it is an invaluable tool indeed.
