Recording itv & ch4 programs
 

Q 1/ Is there a program (like Get_iplayer) that will do the same as for ch4 & itv. So I can record CH4 & ITV.

My download speeds are to low for streaming most of the time.

Q 2/ How can I stream through vlc or other players.

Q /3 Is it possible to skip through 'Add's' with any of the above programs?

Please show me a walk through.

My modified host file blocks most ads when I watch videos on sites like Hulu. I haven't tried it on ITV or CH-4. Try configuring your host file to block ad servers. Check here for instructions. You can probably d/l the stream using flashget or a similar utility. Maybe you can get someone to write a script that'll d/l, convert it to xvid and store it on a server....I'd like to know how to as well.

Using AdBlock+ in Firefox I can watch ITV programmes without adverts. For Channel 4 recently I have to wait until they're on YouTube to watch them in Firefox for some reason as 4OD doesn't seem to work -- I'm not sure whether it's AdBlock, NoScript, Ghostery or something else causing it though. At one point I could watch 4OD without adverts too because of AdBlock+.

Channel 4 programs often appear on YouTube a few days after 4OD -- just search for them and you'll see loads (I like 8 out of 10 cats, for example). If you watch them on YouTube with AdBlock+ you don't see any adverts either.
For ITV stuff there are mainly "unofficial" versions on YouTube so you can't guarantee whether they'll be on there or not.

I've had issues on the 4od and demandfive websites too, and likewise have yet to find a way to download them (though I haven't tried flashgot).
