record audio from youtube video with EQ to Lossless format?

What I'd like to do is take a saved youtube video, play it with VLC or another player with EQ and record the audio to a Lossless format. And then use that audio in a Kdenlive project (which will be uploaded to youtube as a new video.)

Any ideas on how to do this, and/or which apps to use?

You could just use http://www.clipconverter.cc/
It lets you convert a video into any format you like, custom bitrate, ID3 V2 tags, and you can even choose where to start converting and where to end it.
It supports:
  • MP3
  • AAC
  • WMA
  • M4A
  • OGG
  • MP4
  • 3GP
  • AVI
  • MPG
  • WMV
  • FLV

So it'd be much easier just to use ClipConverter than doing what you're wanting to do.

What about the Equalization? That is crucial to my task.

Why not just extract the audio with ffmpeg or mencoder, then you can use mencoder to apply an equalizer audio filter. If you want a GUI try avidemux.

Just as texmex said. Use ffmpeg to extract the audio.
Code:
ffmpeg -i input.flv output.flac
Works great for me.

Code:
youtube-dl -F http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaDDMj-T6F8
[youtube] Setting language
[youtube] aaDDMj-T6F8: Downloading video webpage
[youtube] aaDDMj-T6F8: Downloading video info webpage
[youtube] aaDDMj-T6F8: Extracting video information
Available formats:
34 : flv [360x640]
18 : mp4 [360x640]
43 : webm [360x640]
5 : flv [240x400]
17 : mp4 [144x176]
Any of these will get you an audio dump of the video without re encoding. (Small video of wolf howling)
Code:
youtube-dl -f 18 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaDDMj-T6F8 && mencoder aaDDMj-T6F8 -oac copy -ovc copy -of rawaudio -o OutputFile.aac
Code:
youtube-dl -f 18 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaDDMj-T6F8 && ffmpeg -i aaDDMj-T6F8 -vn -c:a copy OutputFile.aac
file.aac will have same name as video. Need ffmpeg installed.
Code:
youtube-dl -f 17 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaDDMj-T6F8 -x
Code:
file aaDDMj-T6F8.aac
aaDDMj-T6F8.aac: MPEG ADTS, AAC, v4 LC, 22.05 kHz, monaural
Code:
mplayer -vf help
...
  eq : soft video equalizer
  eq2 : Software equalizer
......
Look at
youtube-dl -h
man ffmpeg
man mplayer
