Recently installed Postfix problem

Hello All,

I have just installed linux and Postfix came out of the box so I haven't touched it basically.

I do see this:

$ netstat -a | grep smtp
tcp 0 0 guymachine com:smtp *:* LISTEN
tcp 32 0 guymachine com:smtp guymachine.com:32840 CLOSE_WAIT
unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 12874 private/smtp
unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 12937 private/smtp-filter

ps -ef | grep postfix
root 2831 1 0 20:23 ? 00:00:00 syslogd -m 0 -a /var/spool/postfix/dev/log
root 5979 1 0 20:37 ? 00:00:00 /usr/lib/postfix/master

OK so this looks good.

So then I proceed to this and everything gets weird...

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
telnet localhost 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to guymachine.com (127.0.0.1).
Escape character is '^]'.
HELO adomian.com
quit
^X^X
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It gets majorly stuck and I can't break it off with any control+key combination. Needless to say, it doesn't send any emails.

I went through the postfix.org site and the configuration looks good...I don't find anything majorly wrong with it...

Here's the main.cf file:

I can't see anything wrong with the settings. Try setting it to listen on a network interface and telnet in across the wire. It may not make a difference but it's a place to start.

Sorry but that went a bit too far..I'm not that experienced with postix to do that.

What setting would I have to change in order to that?

It's fixed!

I actually found an aliases.db file but in another location....

and just pasted it to where it complained.

You can find this alias file in /etc/postfix

I hope this helps somebody out!

Cheers!!!!
