Receive files in LICQ
How do I receive files with LICQ?
I receive sent file request from my friend. she is using ICQ with windoze. I click on the request and proceed to save to location and naming the file. but after that...there's no respond. no indication that the transfer are taking place or whatever...anyway, the file transer didn't even start. what should I do? |
Hi,
Do you have a firewall? Do you have anything in your logs? (probably located in /var/log)? Please, dont be mad at me but when you ask for help, write down the programs version and any other information about your environment =) -- Gway |
I meant
Maybe your firewall is dumping the incoming connection to your licq, but I suspect another thing: licq 1.1 uses an old icq protocol, not compatible with the official icq. Usually messaging worked, and i dont remember if file transfers worked. Lately they released version 1.2 with the new protocol. So, i suspect you may have an old licq version. -- Gway |
well...i checked the var/log/secure...mention nothing regarding LICQ. I'm using RH 7.3 I should be using the LICQ 1.1.0/SSL.
|
LICQ isn't too good with sent files. The licq just begin to support 2002 protocol... it will take few time before it will supports send of files.
|
you are saying LICQ dun support file transfer?
Gosh! any other ICQ clone that support file transfer? |
I'm not saying Licq doesn't support files transfert but Licq has really big trouble supporting new 2002 protocol. A lot of msg still sent trough server, but files can't be sent trough server, you need a direct connection with the user... and it's very rare you will get one with licq.
Personnaly, I'm using IRC/FTP for sending files. |
I'm using licq 1.2.0 in mandrake 8.1 and receiving files works without any problem. Sending does not.
So I suggest you first try to upgrade your licq. |
noted. guess I can received files not sent. anyway, I upgraded to 1.2a version.
|
I have one more issue with Licq. seem like LICQ is unable to display me in invisble mode too.
|
Are you sure you just haven't missunderstood the menu because that was what I did at first when I started using licq instead of ICQ in Windows...
You can be in any mode "Online", "N/A" etc. The "Invisible" isn't really a mode. You select your mode, and if you'd like to be invisible you select it aswell. Understood? It's hard to explain :-) |
but my status never change to invisble mode. other chaps still can see my online status
|
Aha, then I can't help you :-(
|
Perhaps that's a bug
|
Possible, you might check out their site and look at the submited bugs from various users. Perhaps someone has already noticed your problem.
