Unhappy REALLY newbie partitioning questions

Is there a place I can go to determine what size to make my part.s? Should I run a Windows Defrag first, since I'm installing Linux as a second OS? Will Linux repartition for me? I feel so out of place...

Look in the thread "Partitioning Questions for First-Time Install," down a few threads right now. Couple guys have answered my questions pretty well.

The best way to do things is to use fdisk or something like PartitionMagic to create the partitions you need before the install, though most distros allow you to set up the partitions as you install.
