Real Player/mplayer

Is the mplayer plugin able to play .ram streams? The mplayer intall picked up the realpayer install and can play some real player stuff in the webpage. But .ram files it cannot. Even if I put the link right into mplayer it doesnt work. The actual real player can play it no problem. Is this a normal issue?

thanks
