I am new to Mandrake 9.1 that I just installed . I am trying to to get streaming media with realplayer 8 ( lots of help here on where to get it and installing. It seemed to install Ok and shows up in menus etc. But cannot get sound out of it . I can get sound from CD etc in Xmms, cd players etc. for example when I try to listen to a ESPN radio stream I get "cannot open audio device, another application might be using it"


I would really like to get it working or can I get XMMS to stream real media?

Try opening up realplayer and changing the audio settings. I forget exactly what I did but I had the same issue as you and when I messed aroung with the audio settings it was resolved.
