Over the past couple of months, I've stumbled across this link multiple times when seeking help to get .gp3 and .gp4 files to read while using linux.
If you are discouraged because the last time someone updated this topic was in early 2005, you are not the only one!
I am posting this as an update to everything entailed in this thread.
Yesyou
can get .gp3 and .gp4 files working in Linux. So do
not get that Windowz recovery disc out just yet.
First and most importantly,
Dguitar is now stable and available, and able to handle .gp3/.gp4 files.
Yes,
kguitar works too.
But, I have had the most success with
TuxGuitar.
To download TuxGuitar, simply be at the homepage, click 'download' at the top, choose which version and build is right for you, and yeah, rock on.
So the moral of this post is that yes, two years after a topic was discussed, there was
still somebody (me) looking for an answer to the same question. So as an update for anyone else who may be seeking this same answer, you can have confidence that .gp3 and .gp4 files have ways of being viewed and played on several linux-based programs that are all listed above.
