read_http_request failure: Connection reset by peer + NoCatSplash

I don't even know how to explain this problem.

I am using NoCatSplash, also known as Splashd to present a splash page to users before allowing access to our HotSpot Internet access.

The software runs, sometimes for a long while, sometimes for less than a minute before erroring out. Below I have included some of the messages I have seen on the screen and I have included a mail generated to root the last time the program errored.

I tried to look at line 8 in the program indicated as causing the error but the program seems to be compiled C.

I also receive a lot of error indicating that the server is out of memory and that a particular program was killed. Sometimes it is Dansguardian, sometimes Splashd.

I also have another request, can someone tell me how to get better logging so I can get more information about the errors.

Thanks
--Joe

I just use as many logging programs I can fit on my system..

I just found out that bootlogd will log certain events that others won't..

My exact senerio is this

I am running Redhat Centos 5.4 Final virtual machine on a VMWARE ESX server.

The purpose of the Redhat server is to use the NoCatSplash (splashd) software to capture wireless clients and present them with a splash page before allowing them access to our hotspot.

The software crashes with out of memory messages like the ones shown above and recently I received a can't fork error message. These errors almost always result in killing the splash software.

Recently I read something about VMWARE servers hosting linux VMs and a possible problem allocating memory. A module called hugemem has been mentioned as a resolution but as of now I have not been able to find out enough about the module or able to locate it for installation.
