read from a data DVD on FC1
im on fedora C1 and ive got this dvd-r i filled up with files and music i want. i have a Creative 5x dvd rom drive installed and when i put in the DVD to browse the files the CD rom icon wont appear and if i go to /mnt/cdrom1 it just comes up blank. but i do remember being able to browse the data DVD back when i was on MDK 9.2.. anyone know what i can do so fedora will read the data DVD?

right click on the CD icon and choose the mount option.
otherwise you can mount in manually by typing mount -t auto /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom |
the right click option is no good for me because there is not 'mount' in the right click menu, but heres what happens with the terminal...
# mount -t auto /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom mount: block device /dev/cdrom is write-protected, mounting read-only mount: No medium found # ive tried with the data DVD and an Audio CD and the same thing happens,,, anything i can do? |
*bump*
anyone else having this problem?? i'm running FC1. before i made the jump to linux, (yes, i'm a noob) i burned a Data DVD in WinXP w/ Nero. now, when i throw in the DVD in FC1 (Gnome) It doesn't show everything that i burned. (i verified this was there before i went ahead w/ the FC1 install.) It shows up as cdrom1 and not a DVD rom. (not sure if it should) but I just want to get to my Mp3's and what-not. Any help? |
