Re-Install RH 7.1 w/o destroying old partitions

Hi,

my RH 7.1 seems to be completely destroyed (can't boot it anymore, see other thread in "Newbie"). So I decided to re-install it from the CDs. My current partition table looks like this:
/dev/hda1: Win2000
/dev/hda2: Linux /
/dev/hda5 (I think): Linux Swap
/dev/hda6: Linux /home

So my idea is that if I re-install it in /dev/hda2, the installation program will not touch /dev/hda6, and all my data will still be there after the installation and all I had still to do would be re-installing some programs. Is that true, or does RedHat automatically format every linux-partition? I just want to be sure BEFORE I start re-installing it.

Alex

no you should be fine, you will specify each mount point, and choose which partitions to format, nothign to worry about, as long as you don't do anythign daft, but you seem to know what 'daf't would be, so i'd trust you you migh tneed to go through as an expert install, but i can't remember, just don'[t click Automatically Partitoin etc..
