Random dashes over text

When I've viewing or typing text it gets random lines through it.

I am running Fedora 11, and I doubt it is the monitor because the monitor is brand new.

Scrolling down and then up again fixes this problem.

See attached screenshot.

EDIT: Second thoughts, what is wrong with the screenshot?

It of this form when half typed, with no other windows open. It doesn't look like the desktop background. Second screenshot (screenshot-1.png) is of everything closed, but I can't make out who it is.

How can I tell what video card I have?

And how do I update my drivers?

I think it's just firefox that suffers from this problem.
