RAM DISK /dev/shm RH 7.2 . Why?

I have noticed since I installed Webmin, that there is a mount called /dev/shm RAM Disk that is 62588kB.

Now, If I am assuming correctly, that is 60MB of my RAM being held as a RAM Disk...

I can't find any docs describing this mount, and when I unmount it in my workstation, all seems to be right and rosy.

I don't want to do the same on the office Proxy Server, at least until I find out it is OK to do so.

Any thoughts anyone???
