Hello

I'm afraid 128 Mb of ram isn't enough, as e.g. http://itinfo.mit.edu/product.php?vi...platform=Linux says.

Have a lot of fun

I heard (but not sure) that version 2 opens much
faster. I believe 2.0 beta (or 1.9) has been around
for awhile, so version 2.0 should be coming out soon
(I hope - I want it too - don't like beta version).

p.s. Don't know the effect of RAM.

if you invest in another stick of ram, either a 256, or better yet, two 256s or a 512, you wont recognise you computer... it will be so fast comapred to now :)

128 256 512... Open Office is always going to load slower then most programs that I have used... It almost acts like an MS product...

Anyway... A few more seconds is not going to kill you... Stop yelling at your microwave to hurry up!!!

to all the ppl who think that 128 Mb RAM i snot enough i suggest try using vector linux..that will clear your doubts wether 128 Mb is sufficient or not

and in Suse there is a utility which dedicates 20 Mb of Ram for open office....

i just want a suggestion how do i configure my Slackware for a quick opening of open office

Actually, the 256 meg is required by Redhat Enterprise. I run Centos on one of my machines. Centos 2.0 would not install at all with less than 256 megs, Centos 3.0 and 4.0 would but you get a warning that the configuration is not supported. There's no question, though that it takes a while to start Open Office with 128 megs.
