Question on editing /etc/fstab

I have been able to mount my ntfs file system (WinXP Pro) under Fedora Core 2. What I want to do now is have it mount automatically at boot. I have seen several examples of editing /etc/fstab to get the ntfs to mount automatically. The point I am unclear about is how exactly to enter the data. I have used the "su -" setting in a terminal and then vi /etc/fstab to edit (I'm pretty sure this is the correct way).

My question is this, "What is the proper format to use when editing the /etc/fstab file and does the info get added at the bottom of the screen or is it inserted to a specific location in the fstab file?"

1. mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/ntfs -t ntfs -r -o umask=0222
or
2. /dev/hda1 /mnt/ntfs -t ntfs -r -o umask=0222
or
3. None of the above.
Thanks for any help.

/mnt/ntfs is the folder I created in /mnt for the windows partition and /dev/hda1 is the correct device.

You should'nt have the "switches" like -t og -r in fstab.

The first column is the device, the second is the folder. The third is file system type, just put "ntfs", NOT "-t ntfs". The fourth is options. Again just put "noatime" or whatever, NOT "-o noatime".

good luck
