QUCS on Ubuntu 12.10

I've had this working on Linux before (can't remember which version). I've now tried installing it on 12.10 from a .deb file but get the message:
Quote:

Dependency is not satisfiable libqt3-mt (>=3:3.3.8-b)
I tried installing some libqt* that I found in Synaptic and Virtualbox which I had seen mentioned somewhere, but that stopped the system working so I have reinstalled Ubuntu.

I have now found some libqt4* in Synaptic and am wondering whether this message means that QUCS is missing libqt3* stuff that it needs or that it sees libqt4* stuff but won't work with it and needs libqt3*?

Whatever it is, what do I need to do?

I looked in one that package and found it here at a Ubuntu webpage.
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=libqt3-mt

This package is dependent upon other packages. I would seek out the Ubuntu repositories and see what other packages the libqt3 needs in order to work efficiently. However; any time that I have used Synaptic Package Manager to install a package Synaptic always alerted me of the other packages that it was dependent upon and asked if I wanted to install the other pkg's as well.

libqt4 is probabaly an updated version of the package.
Here are:
Other Packages Related to libqt3-mt-mysql

Depending on your computers architecture the download is at the bottom of this page:
But make sure it's for your version/distribution of Ubuntu

I would check with the Ubuntu Fourm and the Ubuntu Repositories just to be certain what you need before you install the main pkg and it's dependencies (other pkg's to support the main)

This is the main for the Ubuntu Package Search:

Thanks, but I was already getting out of my depth. Researching into the contents of packages would be far too complex and time-consuming for me. I will be better finding a different package that works out-of-the-box.

I understand where your coming from but; your Synaptic Package Manager should have what pkg you need.
If not the only way I know is to get it from your disto's rep;'s

Otherwise you'll have to install a pkg manually and for you it sounds like that could be interesting to say the least.

I didn't learn Linux overnight BTW it took me the last 4 years to get well acquainted with the 2 distributions that I use and how to configure and manipulate things.
Take your time; don't be hard on yourself and just try to learn a little more each week and before you know it you'll be giving out wise counsel and sound advice just like me and the other here at linuxquestions.org.

The "Linux Bible" is a good book to help you with any package and then some.

Good Luck;)

A new qucs-qt4 port is now available from a ppa:
Just add this to your software sources
ppa:fransschreuder1/qucs

And you will be able to install qucs again
Qucs-qt4 is a new port that has been created by me, but since today it has been committed back to the official qucs source repository. When it has been tested well enough, we will try to get it back into the official ubuntu/debian/other repositories.

Worked immediately - thanks!

Many thanks from me for this PPA as well.
But I was 1 min away from giving up until I found this ppa.
If your PPA is the official PPA for qucs-qt4, maybe you can have a link on the official qucs webpage?

regards
Thorsten
