Quality Cad programs for Linux

I need a quality Cad program for Linux. Not the cheesy Qcad by ribbon soft that comes with Ubuntu. But something like Argon from Grabert GmbH which actually reads AutoCad dwg files. And operates similarly to AutoCad.I would be free of Microsoft if it were not for the fact that I need windows to run AutoCad.Grabert needs to port Argon to Linux.

have you looked at VariCAD ? I can't say if it would meet your needs or not, but it does open DWG and DXF files and there is a Linux version.

http://www.varicad.com/en/home/

Some others CAD / CAM software to look at..

http://www.ptc.com/products/index.htm
http://www.webersys.com/
http://www.bricscad.com/en_INTL/bricscad/features.jsp
http://www.cycas.de/

I think these are all commercial Applications, but I don't think your intention was necessarily a FOSS solution, rather a solution that would just work.

Best of luck in your search, and please let us know if one of these fits your needs.. It may help in future recommendations.
