Quake3 help needed

Hi there,
I'm a newbie here and i'm a newbie in linux gaming too.
Therefor I'd like to play Quake3 Arena @ SuSE linux 8.2
I have absolutely no idea how to run my win32 quake3 here. So i need a detailed Help for installing and running it. And are there any graphical disadvantages to windows? P.S.: I like this smiley here: in some way it fits with me
Anyway, please give me a basically help.
Thanks,
yours pacman

Do you want to run it natively on Linux or thru something like Wine? As long as you have the CD you can download the linux install of Q3, which you proably can get at quakeworld.com, idgames.com, etc. and play it with your linux distro.

Quake III runs perfect on linux, but you don't want to run the Win32, you want to run the one for linux.

if you have Quake III installed in windows, just mount the partition, mine is /d/games/quake3

Then download this file: ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/qua...t-1.32.x86.run from idsoftware.com

Through a shell windows goto the directory you installed it to, and type: 'sh linuxq3apoint-1.32.x86.run'

For the install path type the windows quake3 install path (ex. /d/games/quake3 in my case) and say yes to making a sybolic link.

then you can type 'quake3' in an X console window, or make a link to 'quake3', and you are good to go.
