Quake III no sound

I have an SBLIVE and I dont get any sound in QuakeIII. I read something about it using OSS and my card not supported but I have to beleive that there is a workaround due to the fact that this card was extremely popular as is the game.

Just run the following command as root in the console:

chmod o+rw /dev/dsp

If you read the readme file you will find this there...
This command will give users permission to use sound.
Hope that this helps...
Good luck.
