Quake 3 on linux

Hey all, I got quake installed, and it plays really well, im impressed.

BUT

I have no sound, if i do a ./quake it crashes on sound setup so i have to run with the no sound parameter. I'm using a cs46xx alsa driver at the moment, using alsa under mandrake sound server and using arts (don't see i have a choice there). It's the latest alsa driver compiled from source, no rpm's !!!

HELP, some of you must be using sound by now..

Why is sound stalling the game, i get a black window as if it's gonna run, then nothing, i need to ctrl alt 4 to get back.

UT works fine, sound too , so i'm confused now..

Thanks,
Ade

Thumbs up

Fixed it, had to disable full duplex sound.

Apparently with it enabled art does'nt let go of the sound device !!!!! Weird
