Qmail wont send mail to some addresses

Hello. I have QMail setup on my server. Everything seams to be working fine, however, if I try to send e-mails to some addresses, such as linuxmail.org, then I get the response:

554 Transaction failed: server connect error.

What is this and how/can I fix it?

Where do you get that response in a bounce or in the logs? If a bounce, post up the full bounce message as that alone means very little.

Actually, it is from jwsmtp. (http://johnwiggins.net/jwsmtp/)

When I do a mail.send(). I printf("%s", mail.response()); and that is what it says.

When I send to hotmail, yahoo, etc... then the e-mail sends fine.

OK, are you sending via DNS or are you specifiying a server (Smarthost) to send through?

If you are sending through a specific server (I'm guessing local host as you mention you're using qmail) then look in the qmail logs (/var/log/maillog or /var/log/qmail/send depending how you set it up) and get the full message.

If you're not smarthosting and are just sending through DNS then this has nothing to do with qmail and is the error jwsmtp is reporting. From the error, it sounds like you just can't connect to that host on port 25.

Try checking the other mailserver will talk to your server:

$ telnet linuxmail-org.mr.outblaze.com 25
helo yourhostname.com
mail from:you@you.com
rcpt to:whoever@youresending.to
data
Messgae!
.

I figured it out, even though my server still doesn't work. All I have to do is send my mail to smtp.comcast.net and it works fine. It seams that outblaze rejects any mail from a client with a dynamic IP address.

Is there any way to have my mail server pass the message on to smtp.comcast.net?
