qmail-src missing in debian / testing?

Hello,

i have a problem. I want to install qmail on my debian server.

(And I don't want to read something like 'Why qmail? Better use exim or postfix or whatsoever.' I have my reasons for running qmail... Just believe me ;-) ).

Problem is: If i try to get the source package, apt tells me:
Quote:

root@dune:~# apt-get install qmail-src
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Package qmail-src is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package qmail-src has no installation candidate
root@dune:~#
Actually, I have the main debian server and a local mirror in my sources list, besides the mirror of the provider where my server is hosted.

I don't like that error. Is there anything I can do about it?

You dont have to convince me! I'm a qmail junkie too.

However, I don't think you're going to like my answer very much. I suggest going straight to the source and download a tarball. There is a howto in my signature you can use which will walk you through the setup of a full blown qmail server with all the trimmings. I'm sure somebody else will pop in any second now and suggest you use the stuff at www.qmailrocks.org.

By using a howto, you are assured to be getting lots of nice features and also you're using a set of instructions we can help you with while installing.

Hrm. I allready thought about something like that. That'll mean patching myself... including trying to merge incompatible patches. Well, if thats the way, I need to go it.

Thanks. I will have a look at your links and then take myself the next weekend or two for installing... ;-)

Greets,

Sebastian
