I have a redhat linux 7.0 system with qmail + omail + vpopmail installed.
we are doing virtual hosting i mean many domains are using this system as mail server.
i get a following error in my maillog when i am sending mail from outside to a particular domin in the mail server
i have listed the domains properly in rcpthosts and virtualdomains.
the server name ie server on which qmail is installed is mail.xyz.com and it's entry is there in locals file ie /var/qmail/control/locals
But the above error comes only when the queue is larger ie suppose when there is 700 mails in queue. when i clear the queue i don't get the error message.
The locals file is having the domain name or hostname of the system where qmail is installed.
i am using rcptshosts and virtualdomains . the domains listed in the rcpthosts and virtualdomains are domains using qmail.
the above problem is ariasing only when the queue is more say 700
the problem is getting solved if i clear the queue
I don't understand why clearing the queue helps, but here's what I can tell you about vpopmail. If you're running vpopmail, it treats all of your domains as virtual. So you don't need anything in control/locals. Even your local domains are treated as virtual with vpopmail. You should be adding new domains with vpopmail commands. I would not modify your locals, virtualdomains or rcpthosts files manually. Let vpopmail do it for you.
