QM_MODULES missing, need info; RH9.0, 2.6.1 kernel
Hello everybody. I'm just switching over to Linux (RedHat 9.0, last weekend as a matter of fact) and I'm having a bit of trouble configuring the 2.6.1 kernel that I've been tweaking. I've managed to scale it down to my liking and get the sound/video/ethernet working splendidly but now I'm having trouble with not having the "module-init-tools" file (those QM_MODULES not found error). Linux also tells me that my printer (via parallel port) cannot be accessed via /dev/lp0 (or lp1, lp2, lp3). I guess I should quit with the backstory and just ask my questions.
1. Which version of module-init-tools should I download?
2. When I have said version, how do I go about installing it? I've also read that you need to ".old" all the other modutils (not sure how) or else you lose things altogether.
3. How can I get Linux to access /dev/lp0 for my HP printer? It works well in the 2.4.20-8 kernel by the way.
4. Lastly, during boot-up, it tells me that my IP_Tables can't be accessed (or something, I forgot to write it down) and I was wondering if I can fix that problem with the module-init-tools or just by tweaking the 2.6.1 kernel a bit more.
Thanks to all who choose to answer! If possible, could you dumb down the technical jargon for me a bit, I'm not quite as versed as I'd like, but I'm learning! Sorry for this longwinded topic by the way. Thanks again!
