Q3 PunkBuster?

I have tried to install Quake 3 on both mandrake 9.1, 9.0 and RedHat 9.0. I cant get PunkBuster to update. I have emailed the tech support and they are of no real help. Go figure, right.

Ok here is the deal. I get an error message once i connect to a server. It says "error copying ../pb/dll/la001311.so to pbag.so." I have gave all files full permission, i have tried running it as root, still no luck. After it does this, i have to replace the files in the hidden pb folder in root because it makes the 0 in size and then PB wont enable. I have copied the updates from the web site and saved them like PB says, still no luck.

Has anyone got PB to work? What an I doing wrong? I am nOOb, sorry. Thanks for the help.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.

I got it, finally. Enter "\fs_homepath" at the command line in Q3. It should say "/root/.q3a" . If so, go back and copy the pbweb.x86 page to the "/root/.q3a/pb" folder. The ".q3a" folder is hidden in root. Then open a konsole and change to that folder. Run "chmod 777 pbweb.x86". Then enter "./pbweb.x86". you may have to also chmod the pb folder for the update to work in the game.

Thanks all.

Didn't I say you could delete one? I was just trying to help the people who replied.

Did I start a new thread? In more than one section?

It would be nice if there was an option to kill a thread. Oh wait, Im sure you can do that. (once again, didn't I say, " kill one"?)

You dont have to worry about me posting any more threads. You have made this forum a very special experiance for me. Thanks.

I would have PM'ed you, but I dont have that option either. You have got to be kidding me, what a joke.

Good luck to everyone.
