Q3 PunkBuster?
 

I have tried to install Quake 3 on both mandrake 9.1, 9.0 and RedHat 9.0. I cant get PunkBuster to update. I have emailed the tech support and they are of no real help. Go figure, right.

Ok here is the deal. I get an error message once i connect to a server. It says "error copying ../pb/dll/la001311.so to pbag.so." I have gave all files full permission, i have tried running it as root, still no luck. After it does this, i have to replace the files in the hidden pb folder in root because it makes the 0 in size and then PB wont enable. I have copied the updates from the web site and saved them like PB says, still no luck.

Has anyone got PB to work? What an I doing wrong? I am nOOb, sorry. Thanks for the help.

Sorry, I didnt get any help the first time so I thought maybe I would get help in a more general section. You can delete it. I doubt I will get any help. Sorry again.

I got it, finally. Enter "\fs_homepath" at the command line in Q3. It should say "/root/.q3a" . If so, go back and copy the pbweb.x86 page to the "/root/.q3a/pb" folder. The ".q3a" folder is hidden in root. Then open a konsole and change to that folder. Run "chmod 777 pbweb.x86". Then enter "./pbweb.x86". you may have to also chmod the pb folder for the update to work in the game.
