Python Installation Issues

Hello I am trying to install a P2P applicaiton I have search the forum endlessly for and solution to my isssue. anyway I downloaded a program called "Nicotine" this is a client used to connect to the soulseek network. The installation instructions are simple at best

python setup.py install.

this would seem simple enough. I have all the need prerequisetes, but I get the following error:

[mike@S01060020ed57a91d nicotine-1.0.8rc1]$ python setup.py install
running install
error: invalid Python installation: unable to open /usr/lib/python2.3/config/Makefile (No such file or directory)

the odd thing is that I just installed Python 2.3.4. Yet I am getting a issue with 2.3.3. the command is telling me that I am lacking the particular folder and the file to coiside with the install. I have yet to come up with any ideas to solve this. Please if you have any insight to this it would be much helpful. Thanks again.

I've had similar issues. (obviously), your system believes that 2.3.3 is the default python. You'll have to either remove it, or upgrade it manually which can be done under urpmi, I believe.

Personally, I prefer removing and installing newer versions to upgrading them, but either way should work.
