PyQt, xmms, ooffice segmentation fault after installing nvidia driver
 
On a redhat-9.0 install, after installing the
nvidia driver for my GeForce MX 5200, PyQt,
ooffice and xmms don't work anymore, they
Segfault. That's ALL i've done in between.
They used to work.

- I read a post on the net about AGP problems
potentially being the cause; I confirmed with
/proc that the AGPGART module was being used;
so I tried compiling out agpgart but my nvidia
card wouldn't come up, fiddled a lot with
XF86Config

- so I recompiled my kernel with agpgart as a
module instead of baked in the kernel; now
agpgart doesn't get loaded, but my card comes
up with the NVIDIA AGP apparently active::

PyQt (upon 'import qt'), ooffice and xmms still
segfault. I managed to get xmms working again by
recompiling, but I can't get PyQt to work again
even with recompile, and reinstalling --force the
rpm packages (e.g. qt) doesn't help either.

Any idea at all where I should be digging next?

nvidia driver problem
 
I have the exact same problem. At one point I had xmms and oo working but not OpenGL. Now I am back to the seg faults and working OpenGL.

I also get a message saying my scsi bus has changed?

fixed... well, circumvented
 
i installed gentoo linux and everything works.
