Put icon on Desktop with LXDE?

Started using LXDE on Debian. I need to place an icon on my desktop. I have the .desktop file in /usr/share/applications already.

I searched over internet and came up with these two links:

Code:

http://forum.lxde.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=496
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=870617

and none of them worked.

For the first link - Drag and drop does not do anything. The icon does not gets copied over to Desktop.

For the second link - Copy and Paste give me "No such file or directory"

Use pcmanfm and open two windows, one with the /usr/share/applications the second with ~/Desktop, then drag and drop the icon.
Works fine here but I am on sid.

Take a look at my desktop.

Ahh I see. That worked. All this while I was trying to drag and drop the icon from /usr/share/applications to the actual Desktop and NOT to the ~Desktop folder.
