Punch clock software

I have been doing research all morning looking for some type of freeware version of a Punch Clock/ Time and Attendance management software to allow employees to clock in and out by connecting to the appropriate server for the software. I have found some different job management calculators, but nothing that will allow our employees to log in and out. Does anyone know of any software like this. Thanks in advanced for any ideas.

So your saying you'd like users to logg in to clock on.

This could be easily done using a web frontend eg..
the user log onto http://myserver/

is that kinda what u were after?

Thanks for the imput. Idealy, i would rather it not be a web based thing though.

Are you trying to see when a person logs onto the network or when they walk into the door? Because if you have a Samba domain controller, you can just check the log files for when a person logs in and out and write a little script that'll calculate times in between. Not the cleanest way to do it I guess, but it doesn't require anything from the users.

Give them a shell-account on any Linux-machine, tell
them to SSH/Putty into it and don't do anything.

At the end of the day run
last
which will spew out login-time, log-out time, and time connected.
I've written a little shell-awk script to do reporting on that kind of
thing ...

Cheers,

After reading this message thread, I can not understand how the responses go so far off track.

Just answer the question, please.

Thanks.
