Question PS2 DVD from PAL to NTSC

My nephew received a couple of PlayStation 2 DVDs from a relative in South America. The PS2 DVDs are in PAL format. I have been searching without luck for a way to convert these PAL games to NTSC. Obviously, my nephew's PS2 system runs NTSC games but not PAL.
I started to try figuring out how to do this on the Fedora Core 6 system running KDE; if K3b can automate any of this, that would be nice. Do I need to first rip the PAL stuff off the DVD? There are a lot of data on those DVDs and I don't know what those weird .BIK files are, either.

Anyway, I haven't found a procedure on how to convert a PAL PS2 game to an NTSC PS2 game. Thanks.
