Protected PDF

Hi everybody,

i'm wondering if there is any way to create under linux protected pdfs (i mean pdfs that cannot be printed or modified etc.).

Is it possible using Latex? or is there any other tool to achieve that?

Thank you.

Well.... using window$ things don't work in this way... some pdf are protected and cannot be printed... if you try you obtain an error message or only garbage being printed!

Ok, I was assuming you would also view the created pdfs in linux, and that the viewer would be FOSS and thus easy to have such restrictions removed. Still, screengrabs, etc.

If there's some standard or secret way of making such a protected pdf you'll have to find the spec if it's published. But you might run across some stupid laws (DMCA?) about reverse engineering any protection scheme if you're in the US-up to you to know about that it more detail.
