Processor Problems with MPlayer
Hello,
Recently I have replaced my fried AMD 2100+ with a Palomino core to a 2100+ tThunderbird. Upon doing so Mplayer would no longer work. I figured this was because it was compiled with the old processor. I decided to back anything important up and reinstall slack. After 2 fresh installs, remakeing the partitions with fdisk, mplayer still gives me an error of compile the it with a different processor then I have in now. Below is the error message. bash-2.05b$ mplayer 303sk33_05.mpg Using GNU internationalization Original domain: messages Original dirname: /usr/share/locale Current domain: mplayer Current dirname: /usr/local/share/locale MPlayer 0.90rc5-3.2.2 (C) 2000-2003 Arpad Gereoffy (see DOCS) CPU: Advanced Micro Devices (Family: 6, Stepping: 1) Detected cache-line size is 64 bytes CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 1 3DNow2: 1 SSE: 0 SSE2: 0 Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX MMX2 3DNow 3DNowEx Reading config file /usr/local/etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf: No such file or directory Reading config file /home/n00bhax/.mplayer/config Reading /home/n00bhax/.mplayer/codecs.conf: can't open '/home/n00bhax/.mplayer/codecs.conf': No such file or directory Reading /usr/local/etc/mplayer/codecs.conf: 50 audio & 136 video codecs font: can't open file: /home/n00bhax/.mplayer/font/font.desc font: can't open file: /usr/local/share/mplayer/font/font.desc Linux RTC init error in ioctl (rtc_irqp_set 1024): Permission denied Try adding "echo 1024 > /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq" to your system startup scripts. MPlayer interrupted by signal 4 in module: video_read_properties - MPlayer crashed by an 'Illegal Instruction'. It usually happens when you run it on a CPU different than the one it was compiled/optimized for. Verify this! - MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM. Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and disassembly. For details, see DOCS/bugreports.html#crash.b. - MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen. It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read DOCS/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug. |
You seem to be lacking personal and universal config files for Mplayer. Did you actually install Mplayer via compiling the source?
yes I compiled it from source. I have never had any problems with it before, so i just dont know what to do at this point.
Maybe something you backed up is causing it to remember the other processor type. You have recompiled it for your new processor havent you?
I've accually completely reinstalled slack and downloaded Mplayer again so that im not useing anything from a previous install. I dont think that anything I backed up would affect it. Just /etc (just in case) but im not useing anything from it. It just sits on my fat32 partition. Also my XF86config file and some scripts.
