Problems with Xfree depth
Hello,
I recently installed gentoo and it has been going so far good. There is just one problem though, after installing FluxBox and using it I found that it will always default to 8 bit depth (which looks ugly on fluxbox;) ) I just wondered if anyone knew what was wrong. If I change the depths at the bottom all to 16 or 24 it errors saying that it cant find a good screen. I could change the depth in mandrake, but cant in gentoo. Here is my config file. Quote:

Well, your "Screen" section is missing a few things, don't know why, here's what part of one of mine looks like:
Section "Screen" Identifier "screen1" Device "device1" Monitor "monitor1" DefaultColorDepth 24 Subsection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1280x1024" "1280x960" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" EndSubsection maybe you can simply add the missing "DefaultColorDepth" and "Modes" lines in the correct location, then restart X. |
Thanks works fine now :)

You're welcome...
by the way, the cursor shadow and digital vibrance options (in that long list) are really nice, you may want to try them, as well as un-commenting the dri to see if it works for you. |
