problems with xcdroast
Okay, I was hoping to get cd burning without making a post, but I've run into a problem that I can't seem to fix. I've read some posts on it, but nothing really makes sense to me...
I have xcdroast installed, so I tried to run it, and I got Warning: No root configuration file found or not readable! The superuser must start and configure X-CD-Roast first, before other users can use it Okay, fair enough... I'm sure everyone gets the same when they try to run it the first time with a user account... Open up a console, type "kdesu xcdroast" A window opens up and asks for my root password... I type her in and the window closes... Nothing else happens. I su to root, and type "xcdroast", hoping for some information... I get ** WARNING **: No /usr/local/bin/cdrecord installed ** WARNING **: (Invalid lib-directory? Check -l option) Okay I think... I'm pretty sure I have cdrecord installed, but I download the latest version and install it anyways (because I'm not sure how to check what I have installed) Now what? And be gentle... :newbie: |
okay, i did a bit more reading, and tried to copy my cdrecord binaries into /ust/local/lib/xcdroast-0.98/bin
So I think thats done... Now, when i'm in the console as root and type "xcdroast' i get ** WARNING **: Failed to access cdrecord. Please check the permissions and ownership of /usr/local/lib/xcdroast-0.98/bin/cdrecord I did type chown root xcdrwrap chmod 4755 xcdrwrap Doesn't that chage the permissions? |
Okay, I figured it out...
I had cdrecord in a folder /bin/cdrecord instead of just /bin... once i figured that out the rest was fairly easy damn i'm stupid do i still get credit for fixcing my own problem if no one responded to the post? |
Good work!
I guess you got all the credit you need ... you know you did it on your own(grin). |
