Unhappy problems with synaptic

hi there, i have fedora core 2 with kernel 2.6.5-1.328 but i installed apt-get and then installed synaptic i download the kernel 2.6.8-1.521 and every thing its rigth but when i try to open synaptic the following message comes up : segment violation and synaptic never opens what can i do please help i am frustated

As root, type:
Code:
apt-get reinstall synaptic
