Problems with SCSI emulation and k3b

I've been trying to burn a CD without any success today. I stumbled upon xcdroast which I really didn't like due to it being to complicated to write CDs. I then found k3b which looks really nice. The only problem is it can't find my CD burner. XCDRoast had no problems with this. I have an SCSI emulated IDE CD Burner ( /dev/sr0 ) and every time I try to set it as either the read or write device in k3b I get this error:
Quote:
Could not find an additional device at
/dev/sr0
It does say additional but yet there's no device detected already.
When I try to burn a CD I get this error output:
Quote:
K3b did not find a suitable writer. You will only be able to create an image.
My CD burner is not that old... almost two years since I got it. 40x read/32x write.
Does anyone have an idea about what's going on or how to fix this?

I think I had a similar problem with k3b, which is why I eventually switched to xcdroast.

Anywho, the quick and dirty fix was to run k3b as root. Give that a try first. Might also need to run through k3b setup as root beforehand as well, not sure on that part.
