Problems with screen size

Hi I have installed Redhat 9.0 into my HP omnibook, so OS is using the generic graphics card trident, how ever the screensize does not fill the entire notebook screensize, I have tried adjusting it to 1600x1200 and log out and restarted the X servers, but it still goes back to the same size even after that? Is it a software problem? Do i need to install a later version of XFree86?

Google

I suggest you get on google and search for someone else who has installed RH 9.0 on the laptop you have. I have a Dell Inspiron 8500 and i found several pages that tell me EXACTLY how to get almost everything working perfectly, including the UXGA widescreen.

If that doesn't work, maybe we'll go from there.
