i've wanted to run epsxe. well i've installed and configured it. after that i've run glxgear to check my FPS and seeing it was just 60, i've updated my drivers (i use nvidia card), disabled DRM in kernel and updated opengl-update. now it's about 860, but another problem appeared. namely when i'm attempting to enter sound or video configuration in epsxe, or just run a game, i'm prompted the following error:
libnvidia-tls.so.1: cannot handle TLS data
what should i do now, i've run out of ideas. btw please forgive this little amount of informations, but i didn't really know what informations should i provide if you would need any, please let me know.
why it works: i heard that nvidia installs two incompatible files, that s all i know
the exact naming of files depends on the driver release used. this one is for 6629 , obviously.
if you want you can backup the target file first, but what for...
i've checked the content of both /usr/lib and /usr/lib/tls. both directories have symlinks called libnvidia-tls.so and libnvidia-tls.so.1, each of them leads to libnvidia-tls.so.1.0.6xxx file (as you've mentioned that depends on the version of the driver), but links in /usr/lib lead to /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libnvidia-tls.so.1.0.6xxx file, and those in /usr/lib/tls to /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/tls/libnvidia-tls.so.1.0.6xxx, although both libraries have the same name they're not the same files (i've checked md5 sums), just as you've said, furthermore /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/tls is actually a symlink to /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/tls/ directory. i've been playing with those files trying to copy one into others place and so. finally i've updated opengl-update and reinstalled nvidia-glx and found that the link in /usr/lib/tls is a blind symlink, therefore i've deleted it. thanks to that i've been finally able to run FF9 under epsxe. thanks for your help it really did help, but now i've got another problem. when after running a game i press [ESC] in order to access the menu, application hangs. i cannot resume the game nor load it, what's wrong now?
