Question Problems with libXp.so.6

I'm having a minor problem, and I can't seem to get it fixed at all.

I'm running RHEL 5 x_64, and trying to install an IDL license manager (which requires X to be running to install).

I'm logged in as root:

$ rsilicense
/usr/local/rsi/idl_6.3/bin/bin.linux.x86_64/rsilicense: error while loading shared libraries: libXp.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

One would think, that given this error, you'd just run

$ yum install libXp

So I did. And it's installed.

$ locate libXp.so.6
/usr/lib/libXp.so.6
/usr/lib/libXp.so.6.2.0

And then I run the license setup again, and I recieve the same error. The file is there. The installer can't see it.

I have tried the obvious reboot - but beyond that, I'm not sure what exactly is wrong, and without a diagnosis I don't much know how to solve it. Googling only tells me of others who have had a similar problem yet the installation of the correct library solved it, or a full reinstall of the system solved it. The latter is not even remotely feasible, and the former has failed me.

Does anyone have any advice?

Ha!

I'e found as a professor that asking the question aloud will usually lead to the answer.

And the answer has been found - in this instance (contrary to the tech hints from the vendor) the 32-bit libXp.so.6 is not what was required.

I needed to install the 64-bit version - it now works.
