Problems with KDE using Mandrake 10
Hi *,
after a long period of uptime , I desired yesterday, to reinstall my Server and to install the new Version of Mandrake.
Except two problems, I could solve every problem that came up.
(1)
Mandrake did not recognize the VGA controller correct. So I could not complete the installation of KDE. After that, I put the knoppix CD in my drive, the card was recognized. But, in the Mandrake menu the driver did not show up.
Anyway, I copied the files from /etc/X11 from the old installation. KDE was up and running, after a reboot.
Problem: After each boot there is no KDE start window. I have to log on using the text mode. After a successful logon, I can start KDE by typing startx.
2) I Compared the files from the old /etc and the new /etc. The network stuff looks almost the same. But after the installation yesterday NFS, NAT and Ping don't work. SSH on the other hand works good. So obviously it is not an physical problem.
Cheers, Alexander
