Problems with karamba

I'm trying to install the kde desktop improvement karamba. It seems to install fine, i run the program, and there are no scripts, no themes, no nothing, all blank. So when I download another script and try to run it, I get ann error that says toggle locked.

I didn't get any error messages (that I noticed) when installing. Is anybody familiar with this program, and can help me out?

Usually you execute a karamba theme/script as: path/to/karamba path/to/theme

If you're getting the "toggle locked" message to come up, that's good, at least karamba is up and running. Sounds like it's not finding your karamba theme (or you're not giving it one ?).

I got it to work by installing superkaramba. I didn't realize that what I was trying to run was something programmed in python, so it didn't work with regular karamba.

hey i am tryin to install superkaramba 0.32 and while compiling i am getting the error python.h not found..

i tried everything said in the karambas forums editing the make file and all that it does not work for me...

also i did a make -d and found out that it is looking for python2.2 folder
then i simply changed y python2.3 folders name to python2.2 by renaming it both in the usr/lib and usr/modules and then ran ./configure...

it found the python2.2 headers and all that..
but still when i do make it cannot find the python.h file

any suggestions ?

Cannot find -lXpm

After trying to compile the superkaramba version .33, I got the same missing python.h error. So I installed Python 2.3 and that error went away. After that, the configure for superkaramba workded fine, and I proceeded to run make. Below is the error I get after a long big of compiling:

/bin/sh ../libtool --silent --mode=link --tag=CXX g++ -Wnon-virtual-dtor -Wno-long-long -Wundef -pedantic -W -Wpointer-arith -Wmissing-prototypes -ansi -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE -Wcast-align -Wconversion -O2 -fno-exceptions -fno-check-new -o superkaramba -Wl,-export-dynamic -R /usr/lib -R /usr/lib/qt3/lib -R /usr/X11R6/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib -L/usr/lib/qt3/lib -L/usr/lib -L/usr/local/lib/python2.3/config main.o karamba.o meter.o bar.o sensor.o datesensor.o textlabel.o memsensor.o uptimesensor.o cpusensor.o networksensor.o imagelabel.o graph.o xmmssensor.o programsensor.o disksensor.o sensorparams.o sensorsensor.o textfilesensor.o clickarea.o noatunsensor.o karambarootpixmap.o clickmap.o rsssensor.o textfield.o taskmanager.o showdesktop.o richtextlabel.o karambasessionmanaged.o welcomeform.o systemtray.o cpusensor.moc.o sensor.moc.o datesensor.moc.o programsensor.moc.o bar.moc.o rsssensor.moc.o imagelabel.moc.o clickmap.moc.o sensorsensor.moc.o clickarea.moc.o systemtray.moc.o welcomeform.moc.o memsensor.moc.o disksensor.moc.o meter.moc.o xmmssensor.moc.o networksensor.moc.o textfilesensor.moc.o -lkio -lXpm -lkdeui -lpython2.3 -lpthread -lm -lutil -ldl

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, I have libxpm4 version 3.4k-26mdk installed

I believe that lXpm is in the libxpm4 package, and my mandrake 9.1 rpmdrake verifies that I have this package installed.
