Problems with FIREFOX running on Fedora 9 - cookie crash?

My Firefox 3.1 started (last 3 months) to crash inexplicably. It seems to be related to cookies. I allow cookies but have a lot (50 or so) URLs blocked from setting cookies.

I tried FF 3.5 and that is even worse.

Sorry, I couldn't find anything helpful. I did some googling and found a bug report on what might be the problem:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=494700

They said was that it was fixed in Fedora 11 and I didn't see any work arounds, but they might be worth hunting for if you don't want to switch versions.
