Problems with display in my box

Hi people.

I have a NVidia Geforce 2 video adapter, in a PII 350Mhz.

I have installed mandrake 9 (kernel 2.4.19), and this sets my display in 800x600 and 100x43 chars in the text mode of ttys interfaces...

after that, i ve compiled a new kernel (2.4.21), and when i boot in that kernel, the ttys works in 640x480 with an ugly aspect of 80x25 chars on screen, and thats pretty ugly for programming in vi.

Ive tried with a program called SVGATextMode, but i dont like the way this program sets a new Text Mode.,..

my question is.. how did the mandrake installation, or the old kernel to set my text mode in 100x43??

there is some way to do that with my new kernel????

thank you very much for your support

bye..

I don't have experience working with
Mandrake, but it probably used a framebuffer

You'll have to compile support for it into your kernel
and specify what vga mode you want in your boot-loader
config file.
