Problems using WINE along vlc/totem for linux in Ubuntu 7.10

Hello,

I've noticed a strange and very annoying thing: when I'm using WINE no matter which program it's emulating, i can't watch any videos on my totem/vlc players. Here's an example:

I'm using:
wine-0.9.53
Ubuntu 7.10
VLC media player 0.8.6c Janus
GNOME totem 2.20.0
