Problems starting QuarkXpress 8 (for Windows) in Wine
 

I just installed QuarkXpress 8 for Windows on my PC using Wine, but when I try to use the program it just won't start. The first time it frose at the first screen, afterwards it didn't start at all. I don't get any error messages. I have already set the necessary parameters through Wine Configuration, and I can't find any problem. My OS is Fedora 14 with a Gnome GUI. I use a nVidia GeForce FX5200 graphics card with a nVidia 173.14.28 driver, 1 Gb Ram and Intel Celeron processor. Does anyone know why this could be happening and how to solve it?

Simple answer, QuarkExpress 8 simply doesn't work on Wine. If you want to use an application with Wine, it is always a good idea to look at the Application Database before trying to install. This is the page for QuarkExpress.

Thank you, I should have checked. I also tried older versions of QuarkXpress (back to 5.0) but they either didn't work at all in Wine or encountered problems. SOLUTION: I installed QuarkXpress 8 in Oracle VM Virtualbox using a Windows XP guest OS and it's working fine...
